Homemade Caramel Sauce

Caramel sauce made from scratch is easier than you think! All you need are three simple ingredients, and you are on your way to some of the most decadent caramel you've ever had the pleasure of licking off a spoon.

Oh the things you can do with this sauce. Pour it over ice cream, drizzle over a slice of cake or apple pie, dip slices of apple into it, or stir some into yogurt for a delicious breakfast treat. However you choose to eat it, this is one recipe you want to have on hand whenever your sweet tooth attacks. Bonus points for being refined sugar free!

Homemade Caramel Sauce

Ingredients

1/2 cup salted butter
1/2 cup honey
1/2 cup heavy cream

Directions

n a heavy bottom saucepan, combine butter and honey.
Bring to a boil and cook, stirring frequently with a whisk, until it turns a dark caramel color.
Remove from burner and add cream, (be careful, it will splatter) and stir well to combine.
The caramel sauce will thicken as it stands.

*Notes: If your caramel seizes (clumps) up when adding the cream, put it back over low heat and carefully whisk until smooth again.
