Apple Cider Margarita

Today I'm going to share something a little different from what I normally write about. Usually my posts cover such subjects as food recipes, homesteading tips, frugal ideas, and even a few crafts. But today I'm going to share with you an occasional treat of mine, a margarita recipe. Now normally my margarita of choice is the classic lime version. But with Fall officially starting today, "Happy Fall Ya'll"!, and it being apple week here on the homestead, of course I had to mix things up a bit, and share with you a fun Apple Cider Margarita version.

While most of our days have been sunny and pleasantly warm, with temps in the high 70's, the nights have definitely turned cooler, with temps falling down into the 40's and 50's. There is no mistake that Fall has arrived. With those cooler temps, of course our thoughts turn to Fall drinks. Does anyone else love pumpkin spice coffee as much as I do?

Recently I was preparing a Spanish-style meal of carnita tacos, along with salsa and chips, and decided to kick it up a notch with some margaritas. Like I said earlier though, our nights have been much cooler, and I was in the mood for a Fall-themed drink. All I did was add some apple cider to the mix, and a dash of cinnamon and voila, Apple Cider Margaritas. They turned out perfectly, and are my new favorite way of enjoying margaritas.

Mix up an Apple Cider Margarita and welcome the arrival of Fall!

Apple Cider Margarita

Ingredients

3 ounces apple cider
2 ounces silver tequila
Juice of a small lime
3 tablespoon simple syrup, or to taste
Crushed ice
Dash of cinnamon (optional)

Directions

Fill a pint sized mason jar, or shaker, with a large handful of crushed ice.
Add the apple cider, tequila, lime juice, and simple syrup.
Screw on the lid and give it about 15 to 20 good shakes.
Strain into a margarita glass over another handful of crushed ice.
Garnish with an apple slice, and a dash of cinnamon if desired and enjoy.

Makes 1 large, or two small margaritas.

Notes: *I don't decorate the rim of my glass for this drink, but if you would like to, you can add a sugared rim. Before pouring your drink into the glass, just place about a tablespoon of brown sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon on a small plate. Stir to combine, then moisten the rim or your glass with a little apple cider. Press and twist the rim into the cinnamon/sugar mixture to coat, then proceed with the rest of the recipe.

What's your favorite Fall beverage?
