My final recipe for #CookoutWeek is one you cook on the grill. While cabbage isn't a food most people would think of as grill-able, after trying it you'll make sure to add it to all of your future cookouts!
  Cabbage

Most people think of coleslaw or sauteed on the stove-top, when they hear the word cabbage. But I'm going to introduce you to an entirely new concept, Grilled Cabbage. If you’ve never had grilled cabbage before, you're in for treat. Grilling brings out cabbage's natural sweetness, and gives it a slightly nutty flavor that is so good.
  Smokin'-O's

But what really takes this cabbage over the top is Smokin'-O's. Smokin’ O’s is a small family owned business located in Montana, that makes small wooden rings for your gas grill. The rings give your food an amazing wood-fired flavor, with a product that's 100% natural, and has no added chemicals! Check out more of Smokin’-O’s story HERE, and be sure to check them out on social media too, on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
  Cabbage on the Grill

Smokin'O's gave the cabbage a delicious smoky flavor, and took it to the next level in the taste department. I love the fact that I can add that yummy wood-fire taste to all my grilled foods now, on my gas grill. It's a product I definitely want to keep in stock for grilling season.

GRILLED CABBAGE

Ingredients

1 medium green cabbage, cut into quarters, leaving core intact
Olive oil
Salt and fresh ground black pepper, to taste

Directions

Place a Smokin'-O's ring on the grate of a gas grill, and preheat on high, with the cover closed, for 10 minutes.
Turn grill down to medium. Brush cabbage wedges on all sides with olive oil, and season liberally with salt and pepper.
Place cabbage wedges over direct heat and cook, covered, until charred on first side. (about 5 minutes).
Flip cabbage to second side, cover, and cook until charred on second side. (another 5 minutes).
Flip wedges to third side, cover, and continue cooking until charred. (5 minutes more).
Cabbage can be eaten now if you like your cabbage to have a slight crunch. If you'd like your cabbage softer, transfer the wedges to the cooler side of the grill, cover, and continue cooking until mostly tender. (about 5 minutes longer).
Serve and enjoy.

  1. I only think of eating cabbage for stir frys and St. Patrick's Day but you've proven me wrong!
